COGNOS INCORPORATED

In February 1999, Edward J. Cuhaci and Associates Architects Inc. won a limited competition to provide Cognos Incorporated with 18,000 square metres of new, fully integrated office space. One design requirement was to locate this new ten-storey building immediately adjacent to the existing six-storey office building. Furthermore, for the two buildings to function as one, physical links between the two were built at the ground, second, and sixth floors. The completed complex consolidated all of Cognos' head office functions into one cohesive development with over 24,000 square metres of floor space. Also incorporated into the development were the corporate suites, executive boardrooms, engineering support laboratories, a full service cafeteria, recreational facilities, and a material handling centre.

Due to the size and configuration of the property, an 800-car, four-level parking structure was constructed to fulfill Cognos' parking requirements. The location and arrangement of all buildings and structures on site were dictated by the requirement for very efficient and straight-forward vehicular and pedestrian circulation.
