UNIVERSITY OF OTTAWA - ROGER GUINDON HALL
Ottawa, Ontario

In 1995, Phase I of the project consisted of a major 783 square-metre roof top addition and various interior alterations to Roger Guindon Hall, the Health Sciences Building. The alteration component accommodated various specialized teaching spaces, computer rooms and laboratories. The fourth floor roof top addition primarily housed academic offices and student support spaces.

In 2001, Phase II of the addition accommodated audiology, physiotherapy, speech, and nursing laboratories, all completed with office component. The teaching and dissection areas, numerous classrooms, and computer laboratories underwent extensive renovations.

In 2005, a 7,432 square-metre addition to the existing science building will be carried out. The new space will include Bio-security Containment levels 2 and 3 Laboratories, an Animal Care Veterinary Service Vivarium Facility, open concept Wet Labs, and offices. As natural light and a view to the exterior are important to a laboratory environment, all labs will be located along the exterior perimeter wall. Support spaces will be located on the interior plate. Offices will be clustered near the wet labs.
